One year supportive transitional living program, unattached, (18 yrs +) who can<br />

demonstrate 30 days sobriety. Applicants transitioning (bed-to-bed) from prison<br />

or jail priority, NOT under court supervision. Case management, jobs skills training,<br />

once employed, rent 30% income, plus 30% escrow, curfew, and perform weekly<br />

house chores. House capacity 10 beds, 4 beds set aside for HIV positive.<br />

(Men) 90 to 180 day residential substance abuse treatment and transitional housing<br />

program. Participants receive counseling, AA/NA, case management, mental health<br />

evaluations, referrals for psychiatrist and partial treatment. Staff monitor resident’s<br />

medication. Require: TB test (w/i 6 months) and police clearance (w/i 30 days)<br />

required. Walk-ins and agency referrals accepted. Intake: Tues, Thurs 10am to 2pm.<br />

English and Spanish speaking staff.<br />

Emergency shelter for females: Independent living for co-ed youth in foster care, and<br />

transitional living program for males who are homeless or in imminent danger of<br />

becoming homeless. LAYC services are available to all ethnic backgrounds, although<br />

it specializes in serving Latino youth.<br />

Residents work and/or attend school, those with jobs are expected to save a percentage<br />

of their income. Residents receive basic life skills training and fulfill educational and<br />

vocational requirements. Residents are expected to transition into an independent<br />

living situation equipped with skills to live on their own. Provides 24 hour staffing.<br />

Average length of stay 18 months to 2 years.<br />
