(16-19 yrs) who have dropped out of high school. 22-week residential program at site<br />

of former Oak Hill, Laurel, MD, followed by 12-month Post Residential Action Plan<br />

where youth reside in the community while pursuing career options. Classes start in<br />

January and June. Academic enrichment, GED preparation, character building and<br />

leadership development, job skills training, physical fitness training. Program<br />

administered by DC National Guardsman and private contract educators. Graduates<br />

are equipped to join the work force, the military or continue their education upon<br />

completion of the program (no obligation to enlist in the military, approximately .07%<br />

of graduates join the military). Eligibility: DC resident, no felony adjudications, high<br />

school drop-out, substance free, voluntarily enroll (cannot be court ordered). Program<br />

provides all needs (food, clothing, board, transportation). No cost, no stipends.<br />
