psychiatric condition, or other illness of injury, the eligibility decision is based on the<br />
diagnosis of the intellectual disability, excluding the effects of the other illnesses.<br />
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation<br />
Act of 1973 endeavors to protect persons with disabilities from discrimination when<br />
trying to access public and private services. ADA applies to criminal justice proceedings,<br />
jails and prisons.<br />

disability, (formerly referred as Mental Retardation (MR), and/or other<br />
developmental disabilities (18 yrs +). Must have written verification of MR diagnosis<br />
prior to 18 th birthday. Walk-ins accepted. Services for youth under 18 years are<br />
provided by DCPS and/or CFSA. If an individual is dually diagnosed with an<br />
intellectual disability and mental illness, Down’s Syndrome, Autism, or other brain<br />
disabling condition occurring in childhood, the eligibility decision is based on the<br />
diagnosis of intellectual disability, excluding the effects of the other illnesses.<br />
