program (average wage is $8.00/hour) that provides job training in the building trades,<br />

workforce development training, and academic instruction for young people ages 18-<br />

22 in the metro DC region. The program provides job skills, workforce skills and life<br />

skills mentoring to help participants secure employment. Alexandria Seaport<br />

Foundation (ASF) staff and volunteers support participants as they obtain driver’s<br />

licenses and civil documents, open bank accounts, stay on track with court<br />

requirements and take other measures to improve their ability to secure and maintain<br />

employment. The program is operated year round from 2 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA<br />

22314. The program hours are 9 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday. Interested<br />

program for adults. Educational components integrated with technical arts vocational<br />

training in brick masonry, electrical repair, plumbing, roofing, drywall, welding,<br />

heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Class schedule: Mon - Thurs. 10am to 3pm<br />

Computer training for unemployed and underemployed DC area residents in order to<br />

increase their skill sets and marketability. Job and internship placements with one<br />

year course completion follow-up support. Level I courses: Keyboarding, Windows,<br />

Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Cost $50 for 6 weekly sessions, 90 minutes<br />

per session. Level II courses: HTML; JAVA, $100 for 6 weekly sessions, 90 min<br />
