LAYC-DC Housing<br />

Extended Housing Program:<br />

9-month transitional living for single youth, ages 18-24.<br />

Youth live with one roommate in a two bedroom apartment.<br />

9-month transitional living, for a single parent (18-24),<br />

pregnant or with one child up to age five<br />

Young Families Program:<br />

Transitional living, up to 18 months for single parent or two<br />

parents (18-24), pregnant or with up to 2 children.<br />

(Co-ed) live-in: Each youth provided with an individual<br />

apartment. Stable home-like environment while residents<br />

learn basic life skills training and fulfill educational and<br />

vocational requirements. Expected to transition into an<br />

independent living. Residents work and/or attend school,<br />

those with jobs are expected to save a percentage of their<br />

income. 24 hour staffing. Average length of stay 18 months<br />

to 2 years. CFSA referrals only.<br />

18-month supportive housing for homeless and runaway<br />

youth with a host family. Intake for youth 16-21, (services<br />

can continue until age 23). Life skills and case management.<br />

Intake consists of 2 interviews. May have to wait for an<br />

available family for placement.<br />

90-day transitional living program for formerly homeless men who have completed<br />

drug and alcohol program and are 30 days clean. Mandatory AA/NA meetings daily,<br />

random urine and breathalyzer testing. Three weeks world-of-work training, job<br />

placement assistance, tutoring services. Most residents transition from SOME Exodus<br />

and Maya Angelou programs.<br />
