3 Operation Overview You can instantly use general electronic appliances like a television by just turning it on. But turning on a servo drive is not enough to operate a servo motor. To properly operate a servo drive, a servo-ON signal from a controller is required. If the power supply is engaged but servo-ON signal is not issued, the servo drive and the motor are separated. When the controller issues a servo-ON signal, the drive transmits voltage to the motor. If the command for operating the motor is approved, then the drive can operate the motor according to the command. 41
