“As an institution, the goal at Western Nebraska Community College is to educate
our students. As faculty, we have expectations that our students are obtaining the
knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in future endeavors. Assessing
student learning allows us to evaluate our students to determine if they are learning
what we say they are learning. In the Criminal Justice Program, we have developed
an integrated and systematic approach to assessment that includes direct and indirect
assessment methods. This approach is reviewed each year and allows us to make
improvements and informed decisions related to the academic programs and courses
