areas of overlap. Data fusion algorithms typically replace the tracks from the separate radars<br />

with master or common tracks that have a greater extent across the coverage area. Thus, data<br />

fusion not only increases coverage, it also increases track continuity <strong>and</strong> quality.<br />

CEAT undertook an examination of data integration <strong>and</strong> data fusion capabilities of the<br />

Accipiter®, MARS®, <strong>and</strong> Merlin avian radar systems. That comparison found limited data<br />

integration <strong>and</strong> no data fusion capabilities in the MARS® <strong>and</strong> Merlin systems at that time, but<br />

the current integration <strong>and</strong> fusion capabilities of these vendors are unknown. Data integration<br />

was demonstrated on the Accipiter® systems, displaying data from multiple radar systems<br />

simultaneously in a Google Earth environment. Integration was also demonstrated for the dualsensor,<br />

co-located AR-2 system at SEA, where detections from different altitudes are<br />

simultaneously displayed. CEAT conducted fusion experiments in cooperation with ARTI using<br />

the multiple radar installation at NASWI. In those fusion experiments, location information for<br />

each sensor was confirmed, <strong>and</strong> target location validated by observation.<br />
