OF PAGES: 3MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Employee Orientation Curriculum_____________________Sheriff of Monroe CountyPURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the Monroe County Detention Facilitiesto establish curriculum requirements foremployee orientation to ensure that all newemployees (i.e., full-time, part-time, contract,and Public Works personnel) understand theBureau's role, purpose, goals, written directives,as well as working conditions, organization, andbenefits. [ALDF-7B-13]SCOPE:This directive applies to all personnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:Inmate Services Sergeant and AdministrativeLieutenant.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:The Training Division and Inmate ServicesSergeant are responsible for staying abreast ofall new laws and state requirements and formaking additions, deletions, or changes to theorientation/training class contents as theseoccur.The orientation class curriculum shall bereviewed regularly for content andpresentation.The Training Division and Inmate ServicesSergeant shall incorporate required changesas soon as possible after announcementand/or implementation.All new personnel shall attend orientation priorto assuming their duties. [CORE 7B-02]Individual supervisors are responsible forspecific orientation/training appropriate to thenew employee’s assignment and additionaltraining as needed. Supervisors must makesure that items that are specific to a newemployees’ job assignment are explained tothem.
