Male employees shall not enter any femalehousing area unless a female deputy is present.The only exception is in an emergency, and areport shall be written explaining the nature ofthe emergency, names of all deputies involved,names of all inmates involved, and action taken.Deputies shall report for duty in a clean andpressed uniform. Worn uniforms shall bemended or replaced.If any security breach is noticed, the employeemust notify the Shift Supervisor immediately.Employees must file a written report on anyincident which may result in disciplinary action,may be considered a breach of security, mayresult in criminal investigation and/or charges,may involve violation of facility rules andregulations, or any other time which requireswritten documentation.Employees shall not intentionally becomeprofessionally involved in neighborhood quarrelsor disputes while off duty.Employees must not accept gratuities frombondsman, attorneys, vendors, etc.All employees whose primary responsibility isthe supervision, protection, care, custody,provision of support and/or control of inmatesare to be given a physical examination/medicalscreening including a test for tuberculosis (TB)prior to job assignment. The agency willmaintain a current list of all job classificationsrequiring a physical examination/ medicalscreening. [FCAC 4.07] [ALDF-4D-06]Medication that Affects PerformanceIf an employee is taking prescription medicationthat may affect his or her performance on thejob, he or she shall notify the supervisor prior totaking over a post of duty. Provisions foremployees obtaining prescribed medicationwhile on assigned shift shall be made throughtheir supervisor.Official CommunicationsAll official communications of the Bureau movingupward or downward or for requests,information, suggestions, or complaints shall beconfined to official channels. Each link in thechain of command shall be respected. It is theresponsibility of each echelon to forwardcommunications to the next higher echelon withhis or her approval, disapproval, orrecommendations.Written DirectivesThe Bureau of Corrections Written DirectivesManual shall be issued to selected posts andshall be accessible to all Bureau of Correction’semployees via the office’s intranet. It will beupdated as new policies become effective orexisting policies are revised or deleted. [FCAC2.03]It is the responsibility of all employees to readand understand all written directives includingsubsequent changes that pertain to their positionor all personnel.TrainingEmployees shall attend required annualmandatory retraining (e.g., Annual RetrainingModule (ARMs) for certified employees, SupportCorrections Annual Retraining (SCAR) forsupport and contract employees.)Employees Involvement with InmatesEmployees shall never become personallyinvolved with an inmate.Employees shall not knowingly fraternize with,engage the services of, accept services from, ordo favors for any inmate in custody.Employees shall not discuss newspaper articles,radio, or television broadcast with the inmatesthat could be detrimental to an on-goinginvestigation or the security of the facility.Employees shall not loan money to, buy from,nor trade items with an inmate or his or herimmediate family or friends.
