OF PAGES: 3MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Volunteers, Programs, and QuarterlyEvaluations of All Volunteer Staff, Inmates,and Programs_____________________Sheriff of <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong>PURPOSE:Programs LiaisonThe purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> Detention Facilitiesto establish procedures for the ProgramsServices Director to develop, implement,coordinate, supervise, schedule, and train thevolunteer staff. Quarterly evaluations on allaspects of jail programs shall be conducted todetermine effectiveness.SCOPE:This directive applies to all Programs ServicesPersonnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:Programs Services Director.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:The Programs Services Director will makeavailable to all inmates in the <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong>Facilities the same programs by:Offering the programs in each facility asavailability of volunteers dictates.Making arrangements to transport inmatesto the facility offering the programs uponspace availability.A liaison for each of the upper key's facilitiesshall be assigned. That Deputy will work withthe local groups to provide programs andservices to their inmate population. [FCAC12.01]Supervision, Scheduling, and TrainingThe Programs Services Director has overallresponsibility for the supervision, scheduling,and training of all programs and volunteer staff.The Programs Services Director has thediscretion to curtail, postpone or discontinuethe services of volunteers or volunteerorganizations when it is in the best interestsof inmates or facility operations.The Programs Services Director willschedule programs around all other facilityfunctions.The Programs Services Director will traineach volunteer in the facilities policies andprocedures and the rules and regulations forvolunteers utilizing the "Volunteer StaffHandbook". This will be done either ingroup training or on an individual basis.A Code of Conduct/Ethics will be provided toeach volunteer in the Volunteer StaffHandbook.
