OF PAGES: 1MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Certifications (Law Enforcement, DualCertified Deputies, and Power to ServeWarrants)_____________________Sheriff of Monroe CountyPURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the Monroe County Detention Facilitiesto serve warrants within the detention facilitiesand enable Certified Law Enforcement Deputiesand Dual Certified Deputies to work in theBureau of Corrections.SCOPE:This directive applies to all certified personnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:Major of the Bureau of Corrections.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:Identification cards identifying the individualas a Deputy Sheriff [FCAC 6.09]Certified Law Enforcement and Dual CertifiedDeputies working as Detention Deputies shallhave the following equipment issued to them:Standard detention deputy uniformIdentification Cards identifying the individualas a Detention Deputy [FCAC 6.09]FirearmsCertified Law Enforcement Deputies and DualCertified Deputies working for the Bureau ofCorrections shall not carry any firearms on dutyunless working as a Transportation Deputy, on aHospital Detail, or as authorized by the Major ofthe Bureau of Corrections.Issued EquipmentCertified Law Enforcement and Dual CertifiedDeputies working as Transportation Deputiesshall have the following equipment issued tothem:Standard detention deputy uniformStandard division weapon and leather gearServing WarrantsCertified Law Enforcement Deputies and DualCertified Deputies working as DetentionDeputies shall have the arrest powers to servewarrants within the detention facilities only.Detention Deputies shall also have the arrestpowers to serve warrants within the detentionfacilities only.BOC - 1:004 Date of Original: Jan 1994 1Previous Revision Date(s): 9/15/99Dissemination Date: 1/11/11 Effective Date: 1/19/11
