Non-uniformed <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Sheriff's</strong> <strong>Office</strong>employees and contract personnel shall weartheir identification card and not be issued asecured envelope visitor's tag. [FCAC 6.09]Uniformed <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Sheriff's</strong> <strong>Office</strong>employees shall carry their identification card onthem at all times when in the secured envelope.[FCAC 6.09]Exempt personnel do not have to sign in at MainControl.Attorneys, Pre-Trial Services, chaplains,volunteers, academy recruits, non-essentialpersonnel, etc., shall not enter the housingareas during formal counts, meals, or lockdowntimes unless approved by the on-duty ShiftCommander.Access to Secured Envelope [ALDF-7F-06]A visitor or a non-exempt person wishing to gainadmission into the secured envelope of thefacility must check in at Main Control.Attorneys must produce a valid Florida Bar Cardand valid photo identification. All other visitorsmust produce valid photo identification.The Main Control Deputy or Clerk will inquire asto the reason the visitor or non-exempt personneeds to enter the facility, and then verify thatthe reason.If justified, and the facility is not in lockdown, thedeputy or clerk will issue a secured envelopevisitor's tag to the visitor. The visitor or nonexemptperson will be logged into the facilityutilizing the Main Control Log Book or the visitormay sign in utilizing the Visitor’s Sign In/OutLog.The Main Control Deputy/Clerk will make sureall the information in the log is filled incompletely and correctly before allowing thevisitor to enter the secured envelope and,instruct the visitor that the tag MUST be worn atall times.Invalid or Defaced Identification Cardsallowed to enter the secured envelope if his orher picture identification is defaced or invalid.Search of Person(s) Entering SecuredEnvelopeFor visitors, volunteers, attorneys, andinspectors, a deputy must be summoned to thelobby to search items for contraband, inventorytools, and clear the person through themagnetometer before they are allowed accessinto the secured envelope. State Attorneys andPublic Defenders are not to be searched or sentthrough the magnetometer unless contraband issuspected.Exiting the Secured EnvelopeWhen the visitor's or non-exempt person'sbusiness is completed, he or she will return tothe inner secured door by Main Control. TheMain Control Deputy/Clerk will:Ask the visitor through the speaker to showhis or her issued secured envelope visitor’stag.The visitor must have the tag.If the visitor does not have his or her tag, donot allow the visitor out of the securedenvelope, and notify the Shift Supervisor.Verify the visitor by issued tag number andpicture identification. Verify face to person.When verified, open the inner vestibule doorfor the visitor to enter.When the inner door is secured, open theouter vestibule door for the visitor to exit.Make sure the visitor is signed out of theMain Control Log Book or signs his or hertime out in the Visitor’s Sign In/Out Log.Retrieve the issued secured envelopevisitor’s tag.
