OF PAGES: 1MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Intercom System and Hand Held Radios_____________________Sheriff of <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong>PURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> Detention Facilitiesthat each Facility shall have a Communicationsystem between the Control Room and all otherposts throughout the facility. The intercoms andradios will be used for official use only.SCOPE:This directive applies to all personnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:All Personnel.DEFINITIONS:10-4 - Acknowledged (OK).Plain Talk - Means no codes or signals.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:Intercom SystemPress button to activate a call to MainControl.Release button and wait foracknowledgement.Upon acknowledgement, freecommunication will be possible.All personnel will use plain talk on theintercom system.Hand Held RadiosAll personnel will use plain talk on the radio.The radio will be kept on the jail frequency.The radio will be kept on the person that isresponsible for the radio: No radios will beset down and left unattended.Hand-held radios are issued to Dorm/UnitDeputies, Hospital Detail Deputies,Transportation Deputies, Escort Deputies,Supervisors, Maintenance Personnel,Medical, and the Kitchen.All radios will have lapel mikes.Batteries - DO NOT change batteries inradio until completely drained.BOC - 1:014 Date of Original: Jan 1994 1Previous Revision Date(s):Dissemination Date: 9/15/99 Effective Date: 9/15/99
