OF PAGES: 2MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Facility Tours_____________________Sheriff of Monroe CountyPURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the Monroe County Detention Facilitiesto schedule and conduct tours for an individualand/or groups upon request.SCOPE:This directive applies to all certified personnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:Operations and Site Commanders.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:The Operations/Site Commander/designee willapprove or disapprove tours and will advise theShift Supervisor of same.GeneralTour groups will be no larger than ten (10)visitors per Deputy in a group.Tour guests will abide by the approved civilianattire as per Monroe County Detention Facilities'policies.Deputies conducting tours will be in a clean andneatly pressed uniform and shall conductthemselves in the highest standards ofprofessionalism.The Shift Supervisor will ensure that all inmatesare secure and not within the path of the tourgroup(s).All tour guests will be subject to search, eitherby pat search and/or by the use of a metaldetector.Tour ApprovalTours may be requested by a written request orby a telephone call to the Operations/SiteCommander/designee.Upon approval by the Operations/SiteCommander/designee, the Shift Supervisor willbe advised and a log entry will be made in thepass down log.The following information will be included in thelog entry:Name of person in charge of tour groupDate and approximate time of tourApproximate number of people in the tourgroupConducting ToursBOC - 1:010 Date of Original: Jan 1994 1Previous Revision Date(s):Dissemination Date: 9/15/99 Effective Date: 9/15/99
