The footer of the directive will include thedirective number, date of original, previousrevision dates, dissemination date, and effectivedate.There shall be a table of contents and index forthe Bureau of Corrections Directive Manual.[FCAC 2.01b]Writing New Directives or Revising OldDirectives [FCAC 2.01b and FCAC 2.04]Any person within the Bureau of Corrections canwrite a directive or suggest changes to existingdirectives. A new directive `must be written inthe above format and must be sent to theOperations Commander via the chain-ofcommand.Suggested changes to an existingdirective should be written on a chain-ofcommandmemo. [ALDF-7D-07]The Operations Commander will forward thesuggested changes to the AccreditationSpecialist. The Accreditation Specialist will draftthe directive with the revisions and send it to theCommand Review Committee for further input.All suggestions approved by the CommandReview Committee will be incorporated into thenext draft which is forwarded to the OperationsCommander and Major of the Bureau ofCorrections for initial review and input.These suggestions will then be incorporated intothe next draft which is forwarded to theReviewing Committee.These suggestions will then be incorporated intothe next draft which is forwarded to theOperations Commander for final review.These suggestions will then be incorporated intothe next draft which is forwarded to the VotingCommittee.After the Voting Committee votes, a final versionwill be sent to the Sheriff for signature.After the Sheriff signs off on the directive, theAccreditation Specialist shall ensure thedirective is changed and disseminatedelectronically to all affected employees within aspecified timeframe. [FCAC 2.02a] [ALDF-7D-08] [CORE-7D-01]Replacement of existing DirectivesOnce a directive has been written and approved,a paper copy will be disseminated a minimum ofseven days prior to implementation to everyperson or post that maintains a paper copy ofthe Bureau of Corrections Written DirectivesManual. It is the responsibility of the personworking at that post to insert all new policies andremove all old policies from their manuals.[FCAC 2.01b] An electronic copy of the Bureauof Corrections Written Directives Manual shallalso be posted in the computer where allemployees can view. A form will be routedthrough each division that all employees mustsign stating they are aware of the revisions andthat it is their responsibility to read andunderstand all policies, procedures, rules andregulations including subsequent changescontained in the manual. ThePrograms Services Director is responsible formailing directives to volunteers when needed.[ALDF-7D-08] [CORE-7D-01]All Watch Supervisors shall also ensure thatnew and revised policies are discussed duringroll call.Maintaining CopiesThe Accreditation Specialist / KV and PK SiteCommanders are responsible for maintaining apaper copy of previous changes, their site’scurrent manuals in paper copy form, and theofficial electronic copy of all Bureau ofCorrections written directives.
