OF PAGES: 2MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Public Lobby and Public Areas_____________________Sheriff of <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong>PURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> Detention Centerto have a guideline for controlling problems thatmight occur within the <strong>Monroe</strong> <strong>County</strong> DetentionCenter's Public Lobby or other public areas.Reasonable accommodation is made to ensurethat all parts of the facility that are accessible tothe public are accessible and useable by staffand visitors with disabilities. [ALDF-7E-05][CORE-7E-01]SCOPE:This directive applies to all personnel.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:All Personnel.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:Person Under the Influence or DisorderlyWhen a person under the influence or disorderlyis found in the detention facility, that person willbe asked to leave. If that person refuses tocomply, you shall notify the Shift Supervisor.The Shift Supervisor shall order the person toleave. If that person refuses to comply, the ShiftSupervisor shall notify road patrol to have theperson escorted out of the facility and issue atrespass warning.If road patrol was called, an Incident Reportshall be written and turned into the OperationsCommander.ChildrenIf you see children running around unattended,you shall:Determine where the person is that broughtthem into the lobby.Contact that person and advise them(politely) to control the children.If the problem persists, notify the ShiftSupervisor.The Shift Supervisor shall advise the personresponsible for the children to please controlthem or he or she will be asked to leave.If there is still a problem, notify road patroland have them escorted out of the facilityand issue a trespass warning.If road patrol was called, an Incident Reportshall be written and turned into theOperations Commander.BOC - 1:016 Date of Original: Jan 1994 1Previous Revision Date(s): 9/15/99Dissemination Date: 5/11/12 Effective Date: 5/18/12
