OF PAGES: 2MONROECOUNTYSHERIFF’SOFFICECHAPTER: AdministrativeTOPIC:Trusties Assigned to Outside Agencies_____________________Sheriff of Monroe CountyPURPOSE:The purpose of this directive is to establishpolicy for the Monroe County Detention Facilitiesto maintain and enforce the established rules,regulations, and guidelines governing trustiesassigned to outside agencies.SCOPE:All trusties in the Key West Facility will beissued one pair of blue tennis shoes.o The in-house trusties will wear the bluetennis shoes to work.o Kitchen trusties will wear their blue tennisshoes to work, but while at work, shouldwear the work boots located in theKitchen.This directive applies to all Intake/Release (I/R)Deputies and all Trusty Supervisors.PERSON RESPONSIBLE:Intake/Release Deputies and TrustySupervisors.POLICY AND PROCEDURES:oOutside trusties (e.g., Public Works,farm crew) will wear boots when workingoutside the facility. They will report toI/R wearing shower slides when going towork. I/R will issue boots to wear whenthey go to work. Upon returning fromwork, their boots will be taken and theywill wear their slides back to theirhousing unit. The boots are numberedso the inmates can get their same bootsevery day.Rules Trusties Must Follow [FCAC 13.06]All outside Trusty Supervisors are responsible,along with all associated agencies with outsidework trusty(s), for ensuring that the trusty(s)under their supervision abide by the followingrules, regulations and guidelines:Trusties must wear a complete uniform at alltimes, to include work boots, if required.Trusties in the Marathon and Plantation KeyFacilities usually are not issued blue tennisshoes. On their workdays, trusties willreport to the area where the boots are keptin their shower slides. The Deputy will issueboots to wear when they go to work.
