COMMUNITY FACILITIES GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND STRATEGIESThe Community Facilities Element includes information about governmental facilities and services,educational facilities, health care facilities, and transportation networks serving the Summerville PlanningArea. The quality, efficiency, and costs of these vital services contribute to the high quality of life inSummerville. New population growth and development should not be allowed to develop in a way thatwill diminish the quality of these services.Public SafetyThere is a high quality of life in Summerville, and security and safety are major attributes to Summerville’sefficient public safety department. The Police Department is fortunate to have fine facilities andequipment. Even though the Department has the up‐to‐date equipment needed to fulfill its duties, in thenext five years, an expansion of physical facilities will be necessary.
