RECREATIONAL FACILITIESThe Town has historically been the major provider of public recreation facilities for lower DorchesterCounty. The Town houses a Parks and Recreation Department that oversees the numerous parks andrecreation facilities that are owned by the Town. Additionally, Dorchester County has begun to look atits role in providing parks and recreational options to residents of the Summerville Planning Area whosehomes are outside of the Town limits.Goal: Provide a variety of recreational opportunities and facilities.Objective: The Town of Summerville, in coordination with private organizations and applicablecounty governments, will provide recreational offerings that meet or exceed the standards set forthin the 2009 Dorchester County Parks and Recreation Master Plan for residents within theSummerville Planning Area.STRATEGY PARTNERS IMPLEMENTATIONTOOLS FUNDING PRIORITY TIMELINEIdentify where growth isoccurring and identify futurepark sites.
