Household CharacteristicsAt the time of the 2000 census,Summerville was comprised primarily offamily households. According to theCensus, family households includemarried couples with or without childrenor single parents with children. Nonfamilyhouseholds consist of singleindividuals living alone or with others. Asthere was an increase in population inSummerville between 1990 and 2000,there was a corresponding increase inthe total number of households.There was a decrease, however, in the average household size between 1990 and 2000, from 2.8 to 2.6 personsper household.
