Such provisionswould include a menu <strong>of</strong>alternative bufferyard standards,which would be applied basedupon the intensity <strong>of</strong> adjacentuses and varying site conditions.Bufferyard standards allowchoice among a range <strong>of</strong> optionsfor achieving a required opacity,including buffer width, plantmaterials, structures such asfences and walls, or land formslike an earthen berm.4. Adopt resource protectionstandards to preserve stands <strong>of</strong> Bufferyards must require different treatments between adjacent usesexisting vegetation, which form depending upon their relative intensities and other site factors.effective natural buffers withinand between uses. Preservedvegetation would be required to meet certain standards <strong>of</strong>performance, such as opacity and vegetation density, as a means <strong>of</strong>avoiding conflict between incompatible land uses. These forms <strong>of</strong> development encourageintegration <strong>of</strong> open space and natural resources, thereby meeting theobjectives <strong>of</strong> the community and developer.5. Adopt policies and standards for preserving the integrity <strong>of</strong>established neighborhoods, including provisions relating to the typeand construction <strong>of</strong> infill housing on vacant lots. Amend Section 24 ½‐16, Placement Standards, pertaining to the placement <strong>of</strong> HUD‐codemanufactured homes on single lots to further define ‐ within the limits<strong>of</strong> the law ‐ “compatible with other dwellings in the subdivision orarea when compared to dwellings within a 1500‐foot radius.”Pursuant to Senate Bill 1326, adopted June 18, 2003, establishstandards for industrialized housing, including requiring suchhousing to have a value equal to or greater than the median taxablePage 3-13April 1, 2005
