Amend Sec. 21‐42. Sidewalks, driveways and driveway approaches toinclude specific provisions as to the requirements for sidewalks.Consider requiring sidewalks on one side <strong>of</strong> all local residential streets(alternatively on both sides) and both sides <strong>of</strong> collector and arterialstreets. Sidewalks on one side <strong>of</strong> local residential streets as well asproposed trails or other walkways must be shown at the preliminaryplat stage to allow pre‐development review and post‐constructioninspection <strong>of</strong> plan conformance. The <strong>City</strong> should also program anannual amount into a capital improvement program to repair, replace,or install new sidewalks in high pedestrian use areas therebyproviding safe walking connections to segments <strong>of</strong> the communitytrail system.7. Coordinate with Brazoria County and the Texas Department <strong>of</strong>Transportation (TxDOT) to install shared right‐<strong>of</strong>‐way signage andwide shoulders along each <strong>of</strong> the farm‐to‐market highways and selectcounty roads to accommodate distance cyclists.Page 4-11
