Her parents are aware of her pregnancy, but she has not toldthem that she is <strong>HIV</strong> positive. Jennifer was attending school but recently had to dropout because she was not feeling well. Her parents have three younger children, <strong>and</strong>their combined income is just enough to cover the families’ needs. Jennifer does notknow how much support her parents will give her to take care of the baby. She is inher first trimester of pregnancy when she comes to see you <strong>and</strong> admits to feelingfrightened, alone, <strong>and</strong> depressed. She tells you that she smokes, has little appetite,<strong>and</strong> feels nauseated.Students should discuss the following questions about the appropriate counseling forJennifer.
