eference materials that present information on nutrition and HIV/AIDS to updatethe information and change the content of lectures as necessary.Purpose and objectivesThis manual is intended to complement materials used by tutors in nutrition andhealth institutions of higher learning to train people in nutrition and HIV/AIDS.PurposeThe training manual is designed to help improve the quality of pre-service training innutrition and HIV/AIDS.Objectives• Provide a comprehensive source of information on nutrition and HIV/AIDS• Provide tutors with technical content, presentations, and handout materialsthat can be used for planning and facilitating courses and lecturesAudienceThe intended users of the manual include tutors of students of• Medical or health sciences• Applied human nutrition• Dietetics or home economics• Food technology and agricultureThe materials can be adapted for master’s or undergraduate level students. Ideallystudents exposed to these materials will acquire enhanced knowledge and skills inthe nutritional management of clients infected with HIV.vii
