Nine species arerecognized and described, including four that are new from New Zealandand Australia. Other taxonomic results, such as a synonymy and lectotypeand neotype designations are reported. The larvae of Australimyzidae aredescribed for the first time. Morphological evidence is presented todocument our hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships. Australimyza isdemonstrated to be a well-supported, monophyletic clade. Using fouroutgroups with Inbiomyia as the most immediate to Australimyza, the ninespecies are arranged into an ungrouped species and two species groups. One species group is found on New Zealand and associated subantarcticislands and all other species occur along the maritime coasts of Australia.Key Words: Australimyzidae, Diptera, Australasian Region, systematics.∗∗∗∗∗∗∗∗∗∗30
