6th International Congress of DipterologyESEM observation of Liriomyza sativae Blanchard,Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard) and Chromatomyiahorticola (Goureau) (Diptera:Agromyzidae)Chen, X.-L. & X.-J.WangInstitute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100080, ChinaSince 1975, the economically importance of Liriomyza spp. hasdramatically risen in the world. The two major species involved areLiriomyza sativae Blanchard and Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard),which belong to the truly polyphagous insects and are distributed mainly inNearctic and Neotropical area. However, these two leafminers have beenintroduced into China in 1993. Afterwards they spread quickly andestablished in wide areas of China, now have become serious threat toChinese agriculture. Except that, Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau) hadbeen one of important pests in China for a long time. The ultrastructure of scutum, aedeagus and posterior spiracles onpuparium of L.sativae, L.huidobrensis and C.horticola were observed withscanning electronic microscope. It appears that in L.sativae, themicrotriche on scutum sparse, distiphallus of aedeagus smooth and podshaped, posterior spiracles on puparium three horn-shaped; inL.huidobrensis, the microtriche on scutum dense, distiphallus of aedeaguswrinkled and trumpet-shaped, posterior spiracles on puparium stringbeads-shaped;in C.horticola, the microtriche on scutum very thick, distiphallus of aedeagus leaf-shaped and with a medial sharp projection, posterior spiracles on puparium garland-shaped. All these species havedistinct difference on ultrastructures whose had been studied. The relatedtaxonomic and morphologic implications are discussed.Key Words: Liriomyza sativae Blanchard, Liriomyza huidobrensis(Blanchard), Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau), scanning electronicmicroscope, ultrastructure41
