Degree Information/The Degree of Master of Industrial Distribution 123Application for Degree<strong>Graduate</strong> degrees are conferred at the close of each regular semester and 10-weeksummer semester. A candidate for an advanced degree who expects to complete his/herwork at the end of a given semester must apply for graduation by submitting the electronicapplication for degree to the Office of the Registrar and by paying the requiredgraduation fee to the Fiscal Department no later than the Friday of the second week ofthe fall or spring semester or the Friday of the first week of the first summer term. Theelectronic application can be accessed via the student’s Howdy portal. Cancellationsmade after the application deadline will not receive a refund of the diplomafee. Students who have completed all their degree requirements will not be allowedto cancel their graduation. The Registrar attempts each semester to balance thesize of each ceremony. Thus, the makeup of the ceremony by colleges does change fromsemester to semester. Graduation times are posted each semester on the website of theOffice of the Registrar. A student should check the website at graduation.tamu.edu todetermine the date and time of the graduation ceremony.The Degree of Master of Industrial DistributionThe Dwight Look College of Engineering offers a graduate program leading to thedegree of Master of Industrial Distribution (MID). Enrollment in MID classes is restrictedto students who have been admitted to the MID program. The program of studyhas been designed for individuals within both manufacturing and industrial distributioncompanies.The MID degree is a non-thesis degree for which a final oral examination is not required.The majority of MID courses are offered via web-based distance learning. Newstudents are admitted in the fall semester only.Residence (See Residence Requirements, page 34.)A student must complete 6 credit hours in resident study at Texas A&M University tosatisfy the residence requirement for the Master of Industrial Distribution degree.Students who are employed full-time while completing their degree may fulfill totalresidence requirements by completion of less-than-full time course loads each semester.In order to be considered for this, the student is required to submit a Petition for Waiversand Exceptions along with verification of his/her employment to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong>and Professional Studies.Student’s Advisory CommitteeAfter receiving admission to graduate studies and enrolling for coursework, the studentwill consult with the MID Program Office concerning program structure and requirements.The MID student’s “committee” consists of the Director of the MID ProgramOffice. The Director has the responsibility for counseling the student on academicmatters, and, in the case of academic deficiency, initiating recommendations to the Officeof <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies.Degree PlanThe degree plan must be completed and filed with the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> andProfessional Studies prior to the deadline imposed by the student’s college or bydates announced in the OGAPS calendar.
