134 Degree Information/The Degree of Master of Land and Property DevelopmentNon-Thesis OptionA thesis is not required. A final comprehensive examination is required for the nonthesisMaster of Land and Property Development program and no exemptions are allowed.The requirements as to level of courses and examinations are the same as for thethesis option Master of Land and Property Development. The final exam cannot be heldprior to the midpoint of the semester if questions on the exam are based on courses inwhich the student is currently enrolled.InternshipA student who undertakes a professional internship in partial fulfillment of master’sdegree requirements after completing all course requirements for the master’s degreemust return to the campus for the final examination. The final examination is not tobe administered until all other requirements for the degree, including any internship,have been substantially completed.Thesis OptionAn acceptable thesis is required for the Master of Land and Property Developmentdegree for a student who selects the thesis option program. The finished work mustreflect a comprehensive understanding of the pertinent literature and express in clearEnglish, the problem(s) for study, the method, significance and results of the student’soriginal research. Guidelines for the preparation of the thesis are available in the ThesisManual, which is available online at thesis.tamu.edu.After successful defense (or exemption) and approval by the student’s advisory committeeand the head of the student’s major department, the student must submit his/her thesis to the Thesis Office in electronic format as a single <strong>PDF</strong> file. The <strong>PDF</strong> filemust be uploaded to the Thesis Office website thesis.tamu.edu. Additionally, a signed approvalform must be brought or mailed to the Thesis Office. Both the <strong>PDF</strong> file and thesigned approval form are required by the deadline. Deadline dates for submitting are announcedeach semester or summer term in the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional StudiesCalendar (see Time Limit statement). These dates also can be accessed via the websitethesis.tamu.edu. Before a student can be “cleared” by the Thesis Office, a processingfee must be paid at the Fiscal Department. After commencement, theses are digitallystored and made available through the Texas A&M Libraries. A thesis that is deemedunacceptable by the Thesis Office because of excessive corrections will be returned tothe student’s department head. The manuscript must be resubmitted as a new document,and the entire review process must begin anew. All original submittal deadlines must bemet during the resubmittal process in order to graduate that semester.Thesis ProposalFor the thesis option Master of Land and Property Development degree, the studentmust prepare a thesis proposal for approval by the advisory committee and the head ofthe major department. This proposal must be submitted to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and ProfessionalStudies at least 15 working days prior to the scheduling of the final examination.Compliance issues must be addressed if a graduate student is performing researchinvolving human subjects, animals, infectious biohazards and recombinant DNA. Astudent involved in these types of research should check with the Office of Research
