42 Degree Informationcance to the Africana world, students pursuing this certificate will also benefit from theinterdisciplinary training that is the hallmark of Africana Studies. They will be exposedto the scholarship, methods, and theories of the multiple disciplines that contribute tothe critical analysis and understanding of the Africana world. Awarding of the AfricanaStudies Certificate requires that the certificate candidate complete 12 hours of AfricanaStudies approved coursework and receive a grade of at least a B in each course completed.Those 12 hours should include: 3 hours of humanities credits, 3 hours of social sciencecredits, 3 hours of approved free elective credits, and AFST 601, which is required forall students pursuing the graduate certificate. More detailed information on the AfricanaStudies program is available at africana.tamu.edu.Certificate in Agriculture eLearning Development. The Agriculture eLearningDevelopment Certificate is an innovative program offered by the Department of AgriculturalLeadership, Education, and Communications. This program prepares studentsacross the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with the unique knowledge and skillsrequired to develop sophisticated eLearning courses and training programs for their Agdisciplines. Students will gain a substantive foundation of learning theory, adult education,instructional design, and computer programming from an eLearning perspective.This emphasis area consists of 14 semester hours. Inquiries should be addressed to theDepartment of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. Inquiriesshould be addressed to the department’s graduate coordinator.Applied Behavior Analysis <strong>Graduate</strong> Certificate. This 15-credit-hour certificate isdesigned for students who plan to provide behavioral services or supervise others whoprovide behavioral services for individuals with autism and others with challenging behaviorsin school, community, employment, or home settings. The certificate programrelies on applied behavior analysis (ABA) practices and techniques rooted in ABA (e.g.,Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) which have been repeatedly demonstratedto be effective with many students with autism spectrum disorders and otherswith challenging behaviors. The courses, which comprise this certificate, are specificallydesigned to cover content recommended by professional special education and behavioranalysis organizations. Taking these five courses will lead to a TAMU ABA graduate certificate,but will not lead to BCBA® certification without additional requirements. Thoseinterested in national BCBA certification should visit the Behavior Analyst CertificationBoard website for more information.<strong>Graduate</strong> Certificate in Business Management prerequisites include successful completionof terms 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Mays MBA Program. Requirements include completionof at least 4 graduate level courses (12 credit hours) offered by Mays Business School.These courses may NOT include ACCT 640, FINC 635, MKTG 621 and MKTG 675 orMGMT 655 and MGMT 680 as these are duplications of the core MBA courses. All coursestaken towards the certificate must be taken for a grade. Courses taken S/U will not counttoward the certificate. The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the coursesfor the certificate.Prior to registering for the certificate courses the MBA student must inform the MaysMBA program office of their intentions to take the certificate and present the proposedcourses for approval by the office.
