Degree Information/The Degree of Master of Public Service and Administration 147year. They will be reclassified as a graduate student upon completing 120 credit hours,typically after the end of the fourth year. To be eligible for admission into a dual degreeprogram, students must have a GPA of at least 3.25 and must have completed the specificcourse prerequisites either for a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree inPolitical Science, Economics, or Sociology, as well as the courses required by the Collegeof Liberal Arts and by Texas A&M University for an undergraduate degree by the end oftheir third year. Students who are admitted into the dual degree program will completethe same two-year, 48-hour curriculum as other students admitted to the Bush School’sMPSA program.For further information about the Bush School, including requests for admissionmaterials, please contact: Bush School, Texas A&M University, 4220 TAMU,College Station, TX 77843-4220, email admissions@bush.tamu.edu or on the websitebush.tamu.edu.Residence (See Residence Requirements, page 34.)A student must complete 12 credit hours in resident study at Texas A&M Universityto satisfy the residence requirement for the Master of Public Service and Administrationdegree.Students who are employed full-time while completing their degree may fulfill totalresidence requirements by completion of less-than-full time course loads each semester.In order to be considered for this, the student is required to submit a Petition for Waiversand Exceptions along with verification of his/her employment to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong>and Professional Studies.Student’s Advisory CommitteeThe Bush School MPSA student’s advisory committee consists of the student’s designatedfaculty advisor and the Program Director of the Bush School’s MPSA Program,who has the responsibility of approving the proposed degree plan for an MPSA student.The Program Director serves as chair. When necessary, recommendations in cases ofacademic deficiency will be made to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies.Degree PlanThe student’s advisory committee, in consultation with the student, will develop theproposed degree plan. The degree plan must be completed and filed with the Officeof <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies prior to the deadlines imposed by thestudent’s college, and no later than the dates announced in the OGAPS calendarof deadlines for graduation.This proposed degree plan should be submitted through the online Document ProcessingSubmission System located on the website ogsdpss.tamu.edu. No changes can bemade to the degree plan once the student’s Request for Final Examination or Requestfor Final Examination Exemption is approved by the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and ProfessionalStudies.
