36 Degree Informationtual property was conceived or developed as a result of activities related to an individual’semployment responsibilities and/or with support from University-administered funds,facilities or personnel; 2) whether or not the intellectual property was conceived or developedin the course of, or resulting from, research supported by a grant or contract withthe federal government or state government or a nonprofit or for-profit nongovernmentalentity; and, 3) the individual collaborators, relative contributions of each individual,and agreements among creators of the work.Thesis, Dissertation and Record of Study–Thesis OfficeThe Thesis Office is responsible for reviewing each thesis, dissertation and recordof study to ensure that the format requirements of the University are met. Guidelinesand electronic templates for the preparation of the manuscript are available in the ThesisManual, which is available online at thesis.tamu.edu. All manuscripts must be submittedelectronically. The Thesis Office is located on the sixth floor of Sterling C. EvansLibrary, (979) 845-2225.Graduation<strong>Graduate</strong> degrees are conferred at the close of each regular semester and the 10-weeksummer semester. A candidate for an advanced degree who expects to complete his/herwork at the end of a given semester must apply for graduation by submitting the electronicapplication for degree to the Office of the Registrar and by paying the requiredgraduation fee at the Fiscal Department no later than the Friday of the second week ofa fall or spring semester or the Friday of the first week of the first summer term. Cancellationsmade after the application deadline will not receive a refund of the diplomafee. Students who have completed all their degree requirements will not be allowed tocancel their graduation. The Registrar attempts each semester to balance the size ofeach ceremony. A student should check the website of the Office of the Registrar atgraduation.tamu.edu to determine the date and time of his/her graduation ceremony.The electronic application for graduation can be accessed through the student’saccount via the Howdy portal.Letter of IntentEvery student completing a graduate degree who wishes to continue to enroll in pursuitof another graduate degree should do so by filing an approved letter of intent withthe Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies. A letter of intent which has been approvedby the head of the department (or chair of the intercollegiate faculty) in whichthe student intends to study will be viewed by the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and ProfessionalStudies as an admission to the program specified in the letter. A student must use theletter of intent form which is available on the website at ogaps.tamu.edu.If a break in enrollment occurs for one academic year or longer following graduation,the student must apply for admission before a student enrolls in the other graduate degreeprogram through <strong>Graduate</strong> Admissions.
