80 Degree Information/The Degree of Master of AgribusinessExceptions will be permitted only in unusual cases and when petitioned by the studentwith permission from the Intercollegiate Chair and Associate Department Head for<strong>Graduate</strong> Programs and approved by the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies.Foreign LanguagesNo specific language requirement exists for the Master of Agribusiness degree.Time LimitAll degree requirements must be completed within a period of seven consecutiveyears for the degree to be granted. A course will be considered valid until seven yearsafter the end of the semester in which it is taken. <strong>Graduate</strong> credit for coursework whichis more than seven calendar years old may not be used to satisfy degree requirements.Application for Degree<strong>Graduate</strong> degrees are conferred at the close of each regular semester and 10-weeksummer semester. A candidate for an advanced degree who expects to complete his/herwork at the end of a given semester must apply for graduation by submitting the electronicapplication for degree to the Office of the Registrar and by paying the requiredgraduation fee to the Fiscal Department no later than the Friday of the second week ofthe fall or spring semester or the Friday of the first week of the first summer term. Theelectronic application can be accessed via the student’s Howdy portal. Cancellationsmade after the application deadline will not receive a refund of the diplomafee. Students who have completed all of their degree requirements will not be allowedto cancel their graduation.The Registrar attempts each semester to balance the size of each ceremony. Thus, themakeup of the ceremony by colleges does change from semester to semester. Graduationtimes are posted each semester on the website of the Office of the Registrar. A studentshould check the website at graduation.tamu.edu to determine the date and time of thegraduation ceremony.Final ExaminationTo emphasize the integration and application of subject matter learned and the developmentof written and oral communication skills, a student will be required to take capstonecourses consisting of AGEC 629 and AGEC 630 during the last fall semester. This6 credit hour course requirement allows waiving of the Final Examination. Completionof these capstone courses serves as the final examination for this program.The Degree of Master of AgricultureThe Master of Agriculture (MAgr) degree is designed for a student who wants professionalgraduate training with a management orientation in agriculture, food and naturalresources. It is intended to emphasize the problem solving skills involved in the use ofscience and technology to benefit humanity, not as a research degree.An individual with a baccalaureate degree from a college or university of recognizedstanding, or a qualified Texas A&M University senior during his/her last semester, mayapply for admission to graduate studies to pursue the non-thesis degree of Master ofAgriculture. The candidate’s advisory committee shall specify prerequisite work wherenecessary.
