214 Tuition, Fees and Other Financial InformationCitations:Section 14.15 of the Texas A&M University Rules states, “The student must have settled all financial obligations tothe University.”Chapter § 54.007 (d) of the Texas Education Code states, “A student who fails to make full payment of tuition andfees, including any incidental fees, by the due date may be prohibited from registering for classes until full paymentis made. A student who fails to make full payment prior to the end of the semester or term may be deniedcredit for the work done that semester or term.”Scholarships, Grants and LoansAll scholarships, grants and loans are applied to any outstanding charges before installmentsare calculated.Payment MethodsTexas A&M utilizes online statements and electronic payments in its efforts to providetimely financial information to students and to control costs. Student account paymentoptions include:Electronic/OnlineStudents can view their account and make online payments using E-Checks, AmericanExpress, Discover Card or MasterCard by selecting “Pay Bill/Manage Account” onthe My Finances tab in the Howdy portal. Payments made with credit cards will incur aconvenience fee charged at the time of payment. Payments made with credit cards willincur a 2.25% convenience fee minimum charge of $3.00. Additional forms of paymentaccepted include: personal check, cashier’s check, wire transfer and Pin Debit. (PleaseNote: Once online payment transaction has occurred, the Convenience Fee is non-refundable).Paper• Checks – Students may still use paper checks for payments. The University reservesthe right to utilize check conversion technology to convert paper checks into electronicformat.• Cashier checks• Money ordersCash• Cash is not accepted.Any payment that is rejected for payment by the paying bank, credit card company orother financial institution is subject to returned item charges of $30 or more. Rejectedpayments may also result in cancellation of the student’s registration and additional lateregistration penalties if the student is required to re-register on or after the first day ofclasses.InstallmentsTuition, most required fees, room, board and parking are payable in full, or in fourequal installments. A $15 per semester service charge to cover the cost of handling willbe assessed to each student who chooses to use the installment plan. The service chargeis not refundable once a payment is made under the installment plan or after the firstinstallment due date.
