Degree Information/The Degree of Master of Business Administration 95The Degree of Master of Business AdministrationThe Mays Business School offers a graduate program leading to the degree of Masterof Business Administration (MBA). Enrollment in the Mays MBA Program and relatedcourses is restricted to students in the classification G7 BUAD. A G6 student is noteligible to enroll in Mays MBA Program courses.The Mays MBA Program is a 49 credit hour, lock-step program. All core course enrollmentsare handled through the Mays MBA Program Office. Details regarding theMays MBA Program curriculum may be obtained by contacting the MBA Program Officeor at the website mba.tamu.edu. The Mays MBA Program is a non-thesis degree forwhich a final oral examination is not required. Admission to the program is in the fallsemester only. The Mays Business School is accredited by the Association to AdvanceCollegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) at all program levels.Residence (See Residence Requirements, page 34)A student must complete 12 credit hours in resident study at Texas A&M Universityto satisfy the residence requirement for the Master of Business Administration degree.Student’s Advisory CommitteeThe Mays MBA student’s advisory committee consists of the Director of the MaysMBA Program or the Associate Dean for <strong>Graduate</strong> Programs within the Mays BusinessSchool. The Director or the Associate Dean has the responsibility of approving theproposed degree plan for an MBA student. When necessary, recommendations in casesof academic deficiency will be made to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies.Degree PlanThe degree plan must be completed and processed by the MBA office and filedwith the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies prior to the deadline imposedby the student’s college and no later than dates announced in the OGAPScalendar of deadlines for graduation. It is recommended that a student who is planningto take additional courses after the completion of the Mays MBA core courses meetwith the academic advisor in the Mays MBA Program Office. Additional courseworkmay be added to the approved degree plan by petition.No changes can be made to the degree plan once the student’s Request for FinalExamination or Request for Final Examination Exemption is approved by the Office of<strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies.Course RequirementsThe course requirements for the Mays MBA degree consist of 43 credit hours ofcore courses, 3 credit hours of a designated specialization course, and 3 credit hours ofan approved elective course. In addition, a student has the option of completing a certificateprogram or additional specialization courses beyond the degree requirements.The details of the certificates and specializations are found on the Mays MBA websiteat mba.tamu.edu.Limitations on the Use of Transfer, Extension and Certain Other CoursesNormally the use of such courses is not permitted within the Mays MBA core courses.
