Degree Information/The Degree of Master of Agribusiness 77Application for Degree<strong>Graduate</strong> degrees are conferred at the close of each regular semester and 10-weeksummer semester. A candidate for an advanced degree who expects to complete his/herwork at the end of a given semester must apply for graduation by submitting the electronicapplication for degree to the Office of the Registrar and by paying the requiredgraduation fee to the Fiscal Department no later than the Friday of the second week ofthe fall or spring semester or the Friday of the first week of the first summer term. Theelectronic application for degree can be accessed via the student’s Howdy portal.Cancellations made after the application deadline will not receive a refund of thediploma fee. Students who have completed all their degree requirements will notbe allowed to cancel their graduation.The Degree of Master of AgribusinessThis professional curriculum is designed to provide a broad preparation for economic,financial, and marketing analysis of agribusiness, food and fiber industry decisions.To further enhance their career preparation, a student may avail himself/herselfof traditional University strengths in a wide range of supporting areas and departments.The Master of Agribusiness (MAB) degree program is non-thesis, interdisciplinaryand jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the MaysBusiness School. Program administration includes a Program Director, Program ExecutiveCommittee and an Intercollegiate Faculty. This program is one of a select cadre ofnational programs designed to successfully cut across the business and agriculture disciplinesto focus on food and agribusiness management.The requirements of the Master of Agribusiness degree are flexible to meet the needsand goals of a student. Enrollees who have taken business courses as undergraduates willbe able to build on what they learned in these foundation courses and specialize theirtraining to pursue specific career goals. Those who have not completed these foundationcourses may complete them as part of their degree program. A student will work closelywith his/her advisory committee in developing a program to meet his/her unique backgroundsand career goal.Residence (See Residence Requirements, page 34.)In partial fulfillment of the residence requirement for the degree of Master of Agribusiness,the student must complete 9 resident credit hours during one regular semesteror one 10-week summer semester in resident study at Texas A&M University. Uponrecommendation of the student’s advisory committee and with approval of the Officeof <strong>Graduate</strong> and Professional Studies, a student may be granted exemption from this requirement.Such a petition must be approved, however, prior to the student’s registrationfor the final 9 credit hours of required coursework.Students who are employed full-time while completing their degree may fulfill totalresidence requirements by completion of less-than-full time course loads each semester.In order to be considered for this, the student is required to submit a Petition for Waiversand Exceptions along with verification of his/her employment to the Office of <strong>Graduate</strong>and Professional Studies.
