<strong>MIDI</strong> • Other Things You Can Do with <strong>MIDI</strong>Other Things You Can Do with <strong>MIDI</strong>Changing sounds with <strong>MIDI</strong> Program ChangesThe most basic thing to do with <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> via <strong>MIDI</strong> is have it select sounds onanother <strong>MIDI</strong> device each time you select a <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> channel. Hook <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>’s <strong>MIDI</strong> OUT to your other <strong>MIDI</strong> equipment’s <strong>MIDI</strong> IN, set the <strong>MIDI</strong>Channels of both devices to be the same, and refer to the chart in Appendix B to seewhat <strong>MIDI</strong> program number will be sent to the connected <strong>MIDI</strong> device by each <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> Channel. You can also set things up in reverse, having <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>change channels when sent <strong>MIDI</strong> messages from another device. To do this, connectthe other device’s <strong>MIDI</strong> OUT to <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>’s <strong>MIDI</strong> IN, set them both to thesame <strong>MIDI</strong> channels, as you should be in business.7• 6Tweaking <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> Tones with <strong>MIDI</strong> ControllersIf you have a hardware <strong>MIDI</strong> “fader box,” assignable <strong>MIDI</strong> controllers on a keyboard, ora stand-alone or computer software-based <strong>MIDI</strong> sequencer, you can take control of any<strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> parameter via <strong>MIDI</strong>. The chart in Appendix C lists which <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> parameter is controlled by which <strong>MIDI</strong> Controller. Remember to makesure that the <strong>MIDI</strong> Channels have been set properly when first setting up your <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> with the gear that will control it. To minimize “zipper” noise whencontrolling parameter changes via <strong>MIDI</strong>, try making gradual, rather than suddenchanges to <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> settings.Full <strong>MIDI</strong> Automation of <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>When you use <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> with a <strong>MIDI</strong> sequencer, you can automate any <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> parameter using <strong>MIDI</strong> Controller messages. The <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong> knobs, switches and pedal all send out appropriate <strong>MIDI</strong>controllers that you can record into a <strong>MIDI</strong> track as you play through your <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT<strong>Live</strong> along with a <strong>MIDI</strong> sequence.Hook your <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>’s <strong>MIDI</strong> OUT to a <strong>MIDI</strong> IN on your sequencing setup.Hook the sequencer <strong>MIDI</strong> OUT to <strong>Bass</strong> <strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>’s <strong>MIDI</strong> IN, and make sure <strong>Bass</strong><strong>POD</strong>XT <strong>Live</strong>’s and your sequencer are set to the same <strong>MIDI</strong> Channel. Be sure you set
