To solve its own fundamental problems,to approach closer to reality, and to see ultimately<strong>the</strong> face of Truth, it will have to recognize <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r levelsand dimensions of <strong>the</strong> world. “If science is to turn her facetowards <strong>the</strong> Divine, it must be a new science not yet developedwhich deals directly with <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>ces of <strong>the</strong> life-worldand of Mind and so arrives at what is beyond Mind; butpresent-day science cannot do that.” 35The way science sees itself has changed since <strong>the</strong> publicationin 1972 by Thomas Kuhn of The Structure of ScientificRevolutions. Scientists are now aware of how dependent<strong>the</strong>ir <strong>the</strong>ories and even <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>for</strong>mulas are on paradigmswhich are sure to change one day. Such changes are painfuland bitterly fought by <strong>the</strong> old against <strong>the</strong> new; <strong>the</strong>y aresaid to become definitive only after <strong>the</strong> death of those whorefuse to accept that <strong>the</strong>y were wrong. A science which willone day venture into <strong>the</strong> realms of life and mind Sri Aurobindocalled <strong>the</strong> “future science.” And he warned that itwill be “a big step to take.”Only <strong>the</strong>n will be recognized that <strong>the</strong> universe, universesor multiverse – whatever <strong>the</strong>y may really be – are<strong>the</strong>re as <strong>the</strong> body of hiranyagarbha, <strong>the</strong> Golden Child, ofwhich <strong>the</strong> Upanishad says: “In <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>the</strong> Golden34 Sri Aurobindo: Essays in Philosophy and Yoga, p. 194.35 Sri Aurobindo: Letters on Yoga, p. 205.
