Thisis the spirit in which I seek the Supermind, not hunting forgreatness for myself or others.” 37 When a disciple wrote tohim: “I have a strong faith that you are the Divine incarnation.Am I right?” Sri Aurobindo answered: “Follow yourfaith – it is not likely to mislead you.” 38Surely, Sri Aurobindo has declared many times that hewas an Avatar, not in plain words but in ways which canleave no doubt about the meaning of his statements. A fewexamples will have to do. “I have said ‘Follow my path,the way I have discovered for you through my own effortsand example. ... I have opened the way, now you with theDivine help can follow it.‘” What kind of way or path didhe mean? It was “... the path I opened, as Christ, Krishna,Buddha, Chaitanya, etc., opened theirs.” 39“My experience is the centre and condition of all therest,” by which he meant the supramental realization onEarth. “If I am seeking after supramentalization, it is becauseit is a thing that has to be done for the earth-consciousnessand if it is not done in myself, it cannot be donein others.
