This effusionof worlds, from <strong>the</strong> highest <strong>for</strong>mations of Sat-Chit-Anandadown to <strong>the</strong> lowest of <strong>the</strong> lower vital, has been explored bySri Aurobindo and described by him in “The Book of <strong>the</strong>Traveller of <strong>the</strong> Worlds,” in his epic Savitri. As this endlessscale of worlds is, each of <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong> expression of Existenceand Consciousness, it is also <strong>the</strong> expression of Ananda, andall <strong>the</strong>ir beings enjoy <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e perfect satisfaction and happinessas <strong>the</strong>y are, even those of <strong>the</strong> lower vital which to usbecome demonic. Sri Aurobindo has called those worlds“typal” because, not possessed of <strong>the</strong> urge to change, <strong>the</strong>yare non-evolutionary.However, <strong>the</strong> characteristics and possibilities of Brahmanare infinite, which means that <strong>the</strong>re also eternally existed <strong>the</strong>possibility of <strong>the</strong> Divine seeing himself as his own oppositein his negative aspects. As in <strong>the</strong> Divine seeing means being,immediately Consciousness turned into inconscience, Truthinto falsehood, Light into darkness, Bliss into suffering, Lifeinto death. The Great Mo<strong>the</strong>r, who is <strong>the</strong> executive or manifestingPower of <strong>the</strong> one Divine, and who <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e was responsible<strong>for</strong> this tragic reversal, “saw what was happening,and turning to <strong>the</strong> Supreme she prayed <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> remedy and<strong>the</strong> cure of <strong>the</strong> evil that had been done.
