206 ContributorsMichael J. Phillips , BSc, PhDDr Michael Phillips obtained his PhD in <strong>Aquaculture</strong> from the University <strong>of</strong>Stirling, Scotland in 1982. He has extensive experience with aquaculture in Asia,working for FAO, the <strong>Asian</strong> <strong>In</strong>stitute <strong>of</strong> Technology and, since 1994, with the<strong>Network</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Aquaculture</strong> Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA). <strong>In</strong> his position asManager <strong>of</strong> Research and Development Programs and Environment Specialist atNACA, Dr Phillips manages a wide range <strong>of</strong> aquaculture projects and developmentinitiatives throughout the <strong>Asian</strong> region, including pioneering work on environmentalmanagement <strong>of</strong> shrimp farming, which received a World Bank Green Award in2006. Rai is the recipient<strong>of</strong> the Mahendra Bidhyabhusan Padak (Ka), RONAST Science and TechnologyPromotion Award for the contribution to fisheries research and development inNepal, and has published over 80 papers in national and international journals.
