University governing the use or possession of alcohol or a controlled substance ifthe University determines that the student has committed a disciplinary violationwith respect to such use or possession;20. Personally identifiable information that Rockhurst has classified as “DirectoryInformation” (as detailed below) may be disclosed to the public unless a hold hasbeen placed upon the release of the information by the student; and21. Education records may be disclosed if received under a State community notificationprogram about a student who is required to register as a sex offender in theState.In all other instances, personally identifiable information in education records will not bedisclosed without the prior consent of the student.Directory InformationAt the discretion of the University, information designated as “directory information”may be disclosed without prior consent of the student. Directory information means informationcontained in an education record of a student that would not generally be consideredharmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. It includes, but is not limitedto, the following:Student’s nameAddressTelephone listingElectronic mail addressPhotographDate and place of birthMajor field of studyDates of attendanceGrade levelEnrollment status (e.g., undergraduate or graduate; fulltime or parttime)Participation in officially recognized activities and sportsWeight and height of members of athletic teamsDegreesHonors and awards receivedMost recent educational agency or institution attendedFERPA permits the University to limit the disclosure of directory information to specificparties, for specific purposes, or both. In the exercise of that authority, the University mayrelease all directory information to members of the University family, defined as administrators,faculty, employees and trustees. Other releases will be limited to those situationsin which the University, in its discretion, believes the release would recognize a student foracademic or extracurricular achievement or otherwise advance the student’s career interestsor when the University believes the release would serve to advance the interests and imageof the University. Examples of such releases would be the disclosure of directory informationto prospective employers, financial aid and scholarship agencies or registry, licensureor certification services. Another example would be the release of directory information inconnection with University sanctioned alumni affairs.Graduate Programs291
