Leadership for Health Services (2)This course addresses occupational therapy’s rolein today’s health care environment. Topics coveredinclude: healthcare management/administration,professional development, and leadership skill development.This course will assist students in developingthe leadership skills necessary for innovativepractice in a variety of systems and service models.OT 6510. Research IV: Synthesisand Dissemination (.5)This course is the last in a four-course clinicalresearch sequence, the systematic investigations performedon human subjects which are related to theprinciples and practices of a clinical profession. Studentswill analyze and synthesize the data generatedfrom their clinical study. A formal presentation ofthis project is the final step in the academic portionof the professional master’s program.OT 6560. Musculoskeletal Assessmentand Intervention (4)This class incorporates theories and conceptualmodels of assessment and intervention of clientswith musculoskeletal deficits who have impairmentswith occupational performance. Theories of musculoskeletalrehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation,industrial rehabilitation, positioning, and prostheticsand orthotics are discussed as they relate to avariety of clients with musculoskeletal dysfunction.Specific assessment and intervention strategies toimprove occupational performance are explored.Corequisite: OT 6565.OT 6565. Occupational Intervention IV:Musculoskeletal (2)This laboratory course, offered in conjunctionwith OT 6560, provides therapeutic approachesto purposeful activity, human performance, andadaptation. It provides the student experience withassessment and intervention strategies commonlyused by occupational therapists in the treatment ofindividuals with musculoskeletal and occupationalperformance deficits. Lab fee. Corequisite:OT 6560.OT 6970. Fieldwork II (6)Fieldwork assignments are arranged internshipsunder direct supervision of a registered occupationaltherapist. Level II Fieldwork is designed to promoteclinical reasoning and reflective practice, to transmitthe values and beliefs that enable the applicationof ethics related to the profession, to communicateand model professionalism as a developmental processand a career responsibility, and to develop andexpand a repertoire of occupational therapy assessmentsand treatment interventions related to humanperformance.
