Courses will be presented on-line throughindependent research, consultation, and interviewswith clients and professionals. Corequisite: PT8976.PT 8845. Professional Development IV (2)This fourth and final course in the professionaldevelopment series further expands the scope ofinfluence by focusing on developing leadership skillsand social action. Student initiated action projects inlegislative and leadership arenas provide the basis forself directed learning.PT 8973. Clinical Education III (3)This course is the first nine-week, full-time clinicalexperience in which the student is expected toadvance to a minimum level of competency inthe basic elements of patient/client managementincluding: client examination, evaluation, diagnosis,prognosis, and intervention application. Studentsare provided with opportunities to engage in primaryprevention as well as secondary and tertiaryhealthcare activities during these clinical experiences.Students are scheduled for internships in a varietyof settings that include inpatient and outpatientrehabilitation departments, schools, and specialtyareas (pediatrics, burns, wounds, etc.) A clinicalinstructor (CI) will supervise each physical therapystudent during each clinical internship. Corequisite:PT 8820.PT 8974. Clinical Education IV (3)This course is the second nine-week full-time clinicalexperience in which the student is expected toadvance to a minimum level of competency inthe basic elements of patient/client managementincluding: client examination, evaluation, diagnosis,prognosis, and intervention application. Studentsare provided with opportunities to engage in primaryprevention as well as secondary and tertiaryhealthcare activities during these clinical experiences.Students are scheduled for internships in a varietyof settings that include inpatient and outpatientrehabilitation departments, schools, and specialtyareas (pediatrics, burns, wounds, etc.). A clinicalinstructor (CI) will supervise each physical therapystudent during each clinical internship. Corequisite:PT 8830 and PT 8974.PT 8976. Clinical Education VI (2)This is a six-week full-time clinical education experience.Students will participate in a final clinicalexperience in an area of interest. The student willpractice all basic elements of patient/client managementincluding examination, diagnosis, prognosis,and intervention application. Students will also participatein case management, administrative, qualityimprovement efforts as well as consultation activitiesat their assigned facility. Students will be requiredto complete a case study or project within their specialtyarea that will be presented to clinic staff andfaculty as appropriate prior to the conclusion of theirclinical experience. Corequisite: PT 8840.340
