McCune Memorial Fund,established by Thomas J. McCune in memory ofhis son, Robert A. McCune, a former Rockhurstfaculty member, to provide financial assistance tojunior and senior accounting students.• The Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. McDonnellScholarship assists deserving students, particularlythose interested in engineering, withpreference given to the children of employees ofBurns-McDonnell.• The Frank and Margaret McGee Scholarship,established by Thomas F. McGee in honorof his parents. Open to full-time undergraduatestudents.• The Thomas McGee Scholarship, foundedby Louis B. McGee in honor of his father,Thomas McGee, for students majoring in businessadministration.• The Meeks Family Foundation Scholarshipfor African-American Students, established byJudge and Mrs. Cordell Meeks, Jr., to providetuition assistance to students who might nototherwise be able to pursue an undergraduatedegree at Rockhurst University. Open toincoming freshmen who are African-American,reside in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitanfive-county area, demonstrate financial need andmeet criteria for academic scholarships.• The Chester C. and Addiebell MichaelScholarship, provided by the estate of a 27-yearmember of the Honorary Directors. Open tofull-time undergraduate students.• The James E. and Jane G. Millard MemorialScholarship, established by their childrenin memory of their parents’ love and supportof Catholic, Jesuit education. Preference will begiven to a descendant of the Millards, then toCatholic students.• The Bernadette and Richard Miller Scholarship,a grant to be awarded annually to full-timestudents who spent the prior summer doingvoluntary social service for the less fortunate andneedy. The fund was established by RichardW. Miller, a 1952 alum, past member of RockhurstUniversity’s Board of Trustees, prominentKansas City attorney, and co-founder of theChristmas in October project, and his wife,Bernadette Miller, who is active in RockhurstUniversity’s Library Guild and other volunteercommittees.• The Robert W. and Mary Jane MillerMemorial Scholarship, founded by their children:Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Miller, Mr. andMrs. Richard W. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. JohnHinse, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roult. RobertW. Miller was a 30-year member of the RockhurstEvening faculty and his wife, Mary JaneMiller, was a member and president of the RockhurstCircle. The scholarship was established toprovide tuition support for students who spentthe previous summer in voluntary service to theless fortunate and needy. In this way, the childrenof Robert W. and Mary Jane Miller hopeto encourage and assist people in following theexample of their parents.• Paul A. Mistretta Memorial Scholarship,established by the Mistretta family to honor theirson, Paul, a former Rockhurst student who lovedmusic, especially the trombone. The scholarshipbenefits students in Rockhurst’s Music Department.Recipients must be nominated by theChair of the Music Department, demonstratefinancial need, and maintain good academicstanding. Preference is given to students of Italianheritage.• The William Moore Scholarship, foundedby Mrs. Genevieve Moore in memory of her husbandWilliam, class of 1928. Open to full-timeundergraduate students.• The Harry F. Murphy Memorial Scholarship,established by family and friends of HarryF. Murphy, 1925 alumnus, Honorary Director,lawyer and judge. Open to full-time undergraduatestudents.• The Murphy-Holman Scholarship—establishedto honor Jim and Susan Murphy’s familiesas well as to provide tuition assistance to studentswho might not otherwise be able to completetheir undergraduate degree at Rockhurst University.James W. Murphy is a 1957 graduateof Rockhurst University. The scholarship isawarded to students in the Helzberg School ofManagement who are in their junior or senioryear of undergraduate study, demonstrate needfor financial assistance, are preparing for a careerin business, have demonstrated progress towardsattainment of their baccalaureate degree, are averageacademic students, and are enrolled full time.Preference is to be given to students who are firstgeneration college students.• The George M. O’Connor Memorial Scholarship,established in 2005 by family, friendsand colleagues to create a perpetual memorialfor Professor George M. O’Connor, who taughtbiology to Rockhurst students for 35 years. Thescholarship was founded so that his legacy willlive on through the type of student he mostenjoyed teaching.391
