• The Robert A. Long Sponsored Scholarshipfor Nursing was established in 2011 byMrs. Mazie Long to honor the memory of herhusband, Bob. Mr. Long assisted six RockhurstUniversity presidents. His outstanding service toRockhurst included membership in the HonoraryDirectors Association, the Board of Regents,and as a Universitry Trustee. The purpose ofthe Long Scholarship is to provide tuition assistanceto young men and women whe are seekingundergraduate degrees in Nursing throughRockhurst University and Research College ofNursing.• The Catherin V. Merrill Scholarship wasestablished by the Catherin V. Merrill Foundation.The awards are for Catholic graduatesfrom high schools in the Kansas City area.Students must demonstrate significant financialneed. Preference is given to students who aspireto a role in church leadership, for example, as ayouth minister. Students must be academicallyqualified to attend Rockhurst University andenrolled full time. Renewal of the scholarshipwill be expected for three years as long as thestudent has a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the endof each academic year, and there has been nosignificant improvement in their financial need.• E. E. Newcomer Enterprises FoundationScholarship assists deserving students withdemonstrated financial need.• The Thomas McGee Reardon, Sr. SponsoredScholarship, established in 2011 by theTerry Reardon and Dan Reardon families, tohonor their father, Thomas M., class of 1939.the purpose of this scholarship is to providetuition assistance to deserving students who areseeking undergraduate degrees at RockhurstUniversity. Recipients shall be enrolled full timeand have demonstrated need for financial assistance.• The St. John’s College, Belize SponsoredFund was established to provide graduates ofSt. John’s College in Belize with the financialmeans to complete their undergraduate studiesat Rockhurst University. Upon completion oftheir baccalaureate degree, they will return toBelize to help their fellow countrymen.• The St. Louis ArchAngels Assistance Program,established in 2004 by a group of St.Louis Rockhurst alumni to assist St. Louis areastudents from low income families who aremotivated to earn an undergraduate degree atRockhurst, but lack the financial means to doso. Candidates are recommended by officials oftheir high schools. Candidates submit essays aspart of the selection process.• The Rosalie Tilles Fund provides full tuitionassistance to young men and women who desire,but are not financially able, to attend college.Rockhurst University nominates one candidateand an alternate nominee each spring. Nomineesmust be incoming freshmen and residewithin the City or County of St. Louis, Missouri.Nominees must demonstrate capabilityof maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0scale and a cumulative average of a 2.75 GPAeach semester.• The Visiting Nurse Association OccupationalTherapy Scholarship was established in2010 to assist non-traditional students in theOccupational Therapy program at RockhurstUniversity. Qualified students are currentlyenrolled and in good standing in the OT program.Recipients are selected from a pool ofapplicants who are pursuing a career change andwho have a documented record of service, leadershipand/or scholarship.• The Visiting Nurse Association PhysicalTherapy Scholarship was established in 2010to assist non-traditional students in the PhysicalTherapy program at Rockhurst University.Qualified students are currently enrolled andin good standing in the PT program. Recipientsare selected from a pool of applicants whoare pursuing a career change and who have adocumented record of service, leadership and/orscholarship.• The Suzanne Feld Zalk Scholarship providestuition assistance to aid a worthy African-American student of high scholastic aptitudewho otherwise would be unable to pursue studiesat Rockhurst.396
