• The Ted Tobin Scholarship, created throughthe estate of Ted Tobin, a former Senior Ambassadorfor Rockhurst, who died in 1993. Open tofull-time undergraduate students.• The Bernard G. Tonquest and Thomas E.Tonquest Memorial Scholarship, establishedby gifts and bequests in honor of Bernard G.Tonquest and Thomas E. Tonquest, who werestudents in the early years of Rockhurst. Thescholarship provides assistance to deserving students.Open to full-time undergraduate students.• The Robert and Louise Tritt Scholarship,established in 2003 by Bob and Louise to assistdeserving students at Rockhurt University. Bobreceived his undergraduate degree in 1977, hisMBA in 1984, and is a member of the Board ofRegents. Louise earned an undergraduate degreein 1981 and served as a member of the RockhurstUniversity Alumni Board. Recipients willbe Catholic students from Catholic high schoolswho are full-time undergraduate students withdemonstrated need of financial assistance.• The Charles and Catherine Truitt Scholarship,established in 1994 by his family to honorCharles Truitt, a gifted business leader andfamily man and his wife, Catherine. The fundis dedicated to helping young men and womenwho seek to change their own lives throughdesire and hard work. Open to full-time undergraduateor graduate students in the HelzbergSchool of Management who are Kansas or Missouriresidents and work 20 or more hours perweek.• The Fred P. Turner Memorial Scholarshiphonors Fred P. Turner, who shared his bankingand investment experience in a very practicalway. Grants from this scholarship are made tostudents who express the intention of obtainingan undergraduate degree in business, management,economics, accounting or related subjects,and evidence some need for tuition assistance.• The Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph J. ValentaScholarship, established by the family of Mr.and Mrs. Rudolph J. Valenta to recognize graduatesof Saint Louis University High School showingacademic ability and promise and who havedemonstrated financial need.• The Maurice Van Ackeren Scholarship,initiated in 1966 by the Rockhurst Circle in recognitionof the fifteenth anniversary of the Rev.Maurice E. Van Ackeren, S.J., as president ofRockhurst University. Open to full-time undergraduatestudents.• The Frank Vanost Scholarship, founded inmemory of Frank Vanost, a 1961 alumnus, bya friend and classmate, to provide assistance tofatherless students.• The William Volker Scholarship, providedby a grant from a fund established in 1932 byMr. Volker, a successful Kansas City businessmanand generous philanthropist. Limited toresidents and high school graduates of Jackson,Clay, Platte, Cass and Ray counties in Missouri,and Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas,who display outstanding leadership skills andscholarship ability, demonstrate financial need,and are pursuing an undergraduate education atRockhurst University.• The Vowells Family Scholarship, created in1997 by Mr. Joseph Vowells in honor of BrotherHenry Poiner Vowells, S.J., Henry Poiner Vowells,Mary Jo Vowells, Joseph Poiner Vowells,and John Joseph Vowells, S.J. The scholarshipis to assist Catholic students with demonstratedfinancial need, who are enrolled as full-timeundergraduates.• The Leo F. and Jean H. Weber MemorialScholarship Fund was established by the familyand friends of Leo F. Weber and grants fromthe Bayvet Division of Miles Laboratories whereMr. Weber was Director of finance and administration.Leo received his MBA degree fromRockhurst in 1982. Jean, class of 1983, receiveda BSBA degree with an emphasis in marketing.Open to full-time undergraduate students.• The Clyde Wendel Family Scholarship,established in 2005 by Clyde and Katie Wendelto provide tuition assistance to full-time undergraduatestudents with demonstrated need fromthe Kansas City or St. Louis metropolitan urbancore communities. Preference given to studentswho have attended Catholic high schools in theurban core of St. Louis or the DeLaSalle EducationCenter of Kansas City.• The Margaret Whalen Scholarship, foundedby the bequest of Mrs. Margaret Whalen. Opento full-time undergraduate students.• The Rev. James Wheeler, S.J., EndowedScholarship Fund, created in 1999 to honorFather Wheeler, a long-time Rockhurst Universityprofessor of chemistry. The scholarship isfor deserving students who pursue the study ofchemistry.• The Paul C. Wheeler Scholarship, establishedin 2003 by his wife, Dr. Patricia Wheeler,family and friends, to honor the memory of PaulC. Wheeler. class of 1963. Dr. Paul Wheelerlived his Jesuit education as a “man for others.”He was highly respected as a leader in the fieldof nuclear physics, as a volunteer in communityservice and a devoted husband and father. Thescholarship will assist full-time undergraduatestudents with outstanding academic performance,who are majoring in physics. Financial need isnot a consideration.394
