Full-time students whose grade point average at Rockhurstthrough the end of the fall semester of the current academic year was 3.5 or above areawarded Dean’s List Honors. Students who have Incomplete grades or who have nottaken final exams are ineligible for Dean’s List Honors. Highest Honors are awardedto those students in the Dean’s List category who have earned the highest grade pointaverage. In computing highest honors, the average of all college work or only Rockhurstwork, whichever is lower, is used. To be eligible for highest honors, studentsmust have completed at least half of the total degree hours at Rockhurst.Graduating Senior Dean’s List Honors. Awarded to all graduating students whosecumulative grade point average at Rockhurst was 3.5 or above as of completion of thefall semester for the commencement ceremony held in May. Honors recipients arelisted in the commencement program.Graduation Honors. A candidate for a degree who has a grade point average of 3.5graduates Cum Laude; one who has an average of 3.7 graduates Magna Cum Laude;and one who has an average of 3.85 and above graduates Summa Cum Laude. Incomputing undergraduate graduation honors, the average of all college work or onlyRockhurst work, whichever is lower, is used. These honors are announced at commencement.Graduation honors announced for May and August graduates at thecommencement ceremony are based on the cumulative grade point average at the endof the fall semester and may change based on graduation semester totals.Senior Gold Medal. This award is presented annually by the President of RockhurstUniversity to the highest ranking graduating senior. Rank is computed as explainedunder Graduation Honors above, however, for the Senior Gold Medal recipient, thecalculation is based on the graduation semester cumulative grade point average. To beeligible for the senior gold medal, a student must have completed at least half of his/her total 128 hours earned toward their degree at Rockhurst.Special AwardsThe American Institute of Chemists Medal, presented annually by the Kansas CitySection of the American Institute of Chemists to the outstanding graduate in theDepartment of Chemistry, selected by the faculty of the department.The Bourke Extemporaneous Speaking Medal, the gift of Dr. T.
