Jesus Christ. Father <strong>of</strong> mercies, I desire to return unto Thee and to renew<br />
covenant with my God on the sacrifice <strong>of</strong> His Son. O, pity me and pardon my sins<br />
in His blood, and give me all necessary aid and assistance in the performing <strong>of</strong> the<br />
several duties <strong>of</strong> my station and relations. Make me faithful and successful and<br />
prepare my heart and Thy people for the service <strong>of</strong> Thy Sanctuary. Oh, may the<br />
families be visited with Thy salvation and this city be the object <strong>of</strong> Heaven’s<br />
choicest blessings in Jesus Christ.<br />

4. Thanks to the Lord, our God, for His aid and assistance unto me, driving the<br />
three days past, when visiting my congregation in the city. The two first days<br />
were exceedingly warm, and I feel much relaxed, but I humbly hope the Lord will<br />
restore comfortable strength, and oh, may the families be sanctified, and we<br />
prepared to meet our God in Christ at His <strong>Table</strong>. Father <strong>of</strong> mercies, pardon my<br />
and my family’s sin in the blood <strong>of</strong> Thy Son, and for His obedience unto death; let<br />
me enjoy Thy blessed Communion also in Thine House. Forgive the children and<br />
our sins, and give us grace to obtain mercy and help, in a time <strong>of</strong> need. May filial<br />
piety be wrought in their hearts, and we live in peace and Thy service. Pity the<br />
mother, and unite our hearts to fear Thy name. Blessed Jesus, be Thou our surety<br />
and Savior, and speak peace, even when the word trembles and afflicts. I desire to<br />
be found in the way <strong>of</strong> duty, and oh, strengthen and carry me safely through all<br />
trials and troubles, bless Thy Church, people, my family and friends. Amen.<br />
5. This morning I felt very painful in my bowels, and took pills. May the Lord<br />
pity and restore my health for the duties <strong>of</strong> the morrow. I am unworthy to reason<br />
the privilege <strong>of</strong> His Communion, but desire to be in His service. Father, pardon<br />
my sins, and grant me strength out <strong>of</strong> weakness to perform my <strong>of</strong>fices in Thine<br />
House, and bless my house servants as well as children with another heart and a<br />
better spirit. Hear the prayers <strong>of</strong> Thy people for me. Oh, make me faithful even<br />
unto death. I desire to submit and to commit my all, in time and eternity, to the<br />
Lord and the Word <strong>of</strong> His grace. His will be done and His ways sanctified to our<br />
souls, and let us live to praise Thy name in J. C. Amen.<br />
9. Blessed be our God for all His mercies. Last Lord’s Day I was strengthened to<br />
perform the several duties <strong>of</strong> my station, and may the Father <strong>of</strong> mercies bless the<br />
Sacrament, to my own and other precious souls. The communion was large <strong>of</strong><br />
about 250, and I much spent, but on Thursday I went to Schenectady, with<br />
Reverend Mr. Lansing, to the Classis, and assisted my brethren in their business.<br />
They gave a Classical dismission to Mr. Lansing, who has received a call to<br />
Tappan and New Hampstead, and also declared Dominee Vroman to be at present<br />
still unable to perform half the duties with Dominee Romein, whom they have<br />
information <strong>of</strong>, that will come and settle at Schenectady. The Lord accept <strong>of</strong> this<br />
work, and follow His servants with His grace and blessings, and o, most merciful<br />
God, heal also my youngest child. Spare its life and support us in and for Thy<br />
service through J. C. O. L. Amen.<br />
