greeting
chiledoc
Solidarity and film
have been
our touchstones.
We are proud of our friends and thrilled to be members
of DOK Leipzig for the third, consecutive year. The history
of our documentary filmmakers’ relationship with the
festival is a long one, built over decades, where solidarity
and film have been our touchstones.
We believe that the alliance we have today is part of that
tradition, and the result of a relationship based on
trust, collaboration, affection and a common interest to
seek new alliances and expand documentary filmmaking
horizons.
Chiledoc is an organization whose objective is to internationalize
the documentary productions of our country.
In the last ten years, we have experienced constant
growth and, therefore, we
need to consolidate and
create new networks. For this
purpose, we have the support
of the Chilean Council for
the Arts and the Audiovisual
Industry (CAIA), the
Documentary Filmmakers Association of Chile (ADOC),
many festivals and other national and international
organizations, such as our partners in Germany, Dok
Leipzig. It’s because of them that we are able to continue
to project ourselves into the future. As a result of this
collective endeavor we are very happy to coordinate, along
with Cinemachile, this delegation of talented producers
and directors, so they can attend and share their best
projects. Our presence year after year has become stronger
and this union consolidates the associative work that
makes us a solid sector and boosts our films’ potential.
The selected films for the festival competition, the Latin
American section and those commercially available,
offer a diverse array and strong images of our documentary
cinema, which has been widely awarded and noted in
the last years, due to its cinematographic language and
subject matter. Our essence and idiosyncrasy can be clearly
seen, marked by earthquakes and tsunamis, where lives
and landscapes change constantly, where we fight our
villains constantly and where we try to pursue our ideals.
Today we can share with you this programming that
reflects part of our spirit. We greet our colleagues and
organizers of this version of Dok Leipzig, and we offer our
warmest wishes for this to be an unforgettable festival.
DOK Leipzig is a space
that offers a unique gathering
between professionals
from around the world.
CinemaChile participation in this year’s DOK Leipzig is a
source of great satisfaction.
Firstly, to confirm that in Chile collective efforts outweigh
individual ones. This is reflected in the partnership work
that we are developing with our dear friends at Chiledoc.
With them we share the interest in supporting the
internationalization of Chilean documentary, making our
directors and producers known around the world
and encouraging co-production associations with foreign
partners. This common interest to both organizations
is complemented by the support provided by the Arts and
the Audiovisual Industry Council (CAIA) and ProChile,
both public entities that have consistently supported
the Chilean audiovisual sector in its efforts to develop
internationally.
Our presence at DOK Leipzig is also the result of the
systematic work between two of the most important
associations in the country: APCT and ADOC, of which we
are pleased and proud. The other major source of satisfaction
is strengthening ties with DOK Leipzig, who by
now we also recognize as partners and friends. In this third
year of continuous participation in the festival, we are
pleased to have documentaries in the Latin American
section (Special Program), with projects in development
and a number of films on the market. To complement
this remarkable presence,
we hope to draw attention to
the Chilean documentary
production through our 2012
CinemaChile catalogue.
For us DOK Leipzig is a
space that offers a unique
gathering between professionals
from around the world, which is also a pleasant
and inspiring experience that facilitates the development
of more and better documentary projects of impact
and significance. We wish a memorable festival to the
organizers and all colleagues present in this new edition
of DOK Leipzig!
